Courts consolidation is in progress

Within the limits of court reform the planned courts consolidation is in progress. On December 2, three more consolidated courts had been established. Kharagauli and Terjola Magistrate Courts are under the command of Zestafoni District Court. Regarding to Akhmeta and Gurjaani Magistrate Courts, territorially they subordinate to Telavi District Court. Bolnisi District Court compiles Dmanisi and Marneuli Magisrtae Courts.

In the current year 8 General Courts and 16 Magistrate Courts had been established pursuant to the enlargement of Courts in Georgia.

Less expenses and strengthened justice – those are the advantages judicial authority expects out of this enlargement.

The following District Courts have been consolidated in 2009: Ambrolauri (Oni Magistrate Court), Ozurgeti (Lanchkhuti and Chokhatauri Magistrate Courts), Akhaltsikhe (Adigeni, Aspindza and Borjomi Magistrate Courts), Batumi City Court (Kobuleti Magistrate Court), Khelvachauri (Shuakhevi, Kedi, Khulo Magistrate Courts).

For today 178 judges are implementing their responsibilities at District (City) Courts, out of which 64 judges execute justice at Tbilisi City Court.

According to the conception of the reform, 22 District and 44 Magistrate Courts will be originated in Georgia for the year of 2010. At present, 14 General District (City) Courts and 24 Magistrate Courts are in process.

All of the General Courts had been reconstructed and equipped with modern technologies.
