According to the data of UN the confidence towards the court authority compiles 66%

According to the survey, the indicator of trust towards the court is up to 66 percent. The survey, conducted by the UN, is positively estimated at the Supreme Court and explained, that compare to the previous years the trust of population towards the court has been increased. If the trust of public  towards the court was only 57% for the year of 2008, in 2009 the indicator compiles 66 percent. Gori and Zugdidi District Courts showed the high rating of confidence.

Survey was conducted by the method of face to face interview in the population of Tbilisi and big cities of Georgia. 2 800 “accidentally selected” respondents made inquiries about the court confidence, out of which 36,5% considers, that the Supreme Court is the most confident, 27% - all three instance courts are equally confident.  

Within the frames of survey, the respondents were asked to estimate the Georgian court system according to the following parameters: “qualification”, “incorruption”, “independence”, and “effectiveness”.

In the scale of evaluation, the parameter of judges’ qualification got the highest score, a little bit less – incorruption,  effectiveness and independence. According to the statement of the Chairman of the Supreme Court, “these outcomes were expected, as the Georgian Government  conducted works for the effective implementation of the reform and 66% is the result of the above mentioned work. It’s naturally, that the biggest part of population considers, that the court is qualified, what is already recognized by the opposite side as well. We have good estimation in the standpoint of effectiveness and incorruption. Regarding degree of court independence – complex approach and improvement of situation, within the different course, in total will give us the high degree of independence. I would like to state at the same time, that the complete trust towards the court authority isn’t necessary in democratic counties worthy for us. Although, we will do our best to activate possible resources, what will also increase the trust of population towards the justice in total” – this kind of estimation was made by Konstantine Kublashvili during the review of the survey conducted by UN.

One of the direction of the survey conducted by the UN was to determine dependence of population towards the court corruption. Only 6,7% of respondents satisfied, that bribe taking at Georgian court are still in practice. The following 65% of the respondents considered, that only small unit of judges may take bribe. Regarding the rest of 28% - bribe taking at courts are not accomplished.

This data is positively evaluated and considered at the Supreme Court, “the bribe taking in Georgian Courts is excluded and if any occasion still occurs anywhere, the demonstration of such actions are conducted by he help of respective organs in short terms".
