Supreme Court Judges Visiting the Higher Regional Court of Dresden

On December 3-7, 2018 a delegation from the Supreme Court of Georgia, consisting of judges of the Civil Cases Chamber, Nino Bakakuri, Besarion Alavidze, Paata Katamadze, Zurab Dzlierishvili and a judge from Tbilisi Court of Appeals, Ketevan Meskhishvili, visited the Higher Regional Court of Dresden. The delegation was headed by the Acting Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Georgia, Chair of the Civil Cases Chamber, Mzia Todua.

The delegation had a series of working meetings with Dresden High District Court members including the Chairman of the Higher Regional Court of Dresden, Gilbert Häfner, the deputy chair of Higher Regional  Court of Dresden and judges of Constitutional Court of Free State of Saxony.

The delegation also had a chance to meet the former Chairman of the Higher Regional Court of Dresden, Ulrich Hagenloch. At the meeting, they covered such important issues of civil law, like joint collaboration on commentaries to the Civil Procedure Code of Georgia and other problems related to professional activity of judges.

Specific independent studies were conducted concerning principles of interpretation of  standard terms of agreement and competitiveness of the right for claim in Civil Law. Georgian judges also had an opportunity to attend the sessions of the Civil Cases Chamber#13 on four civil cases that was followed by results overview and analysis.

At the end of the meetings Georgian and German colleagues discussed the framework of judges’ activities and functioning of dispositionary and  competition law principles of the parties in compliance with national  Civil Procedure Code, also some issues concerning the right for a fair trial.
